Terms of service.
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Acceptance of terms
By creating a TickerAPI account, accessing the API, or using any part of the TickerAPI service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are using TickerAPI on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not create an account or use the service.
The service
TickerAPI provides pre-computed, derived financial data through a plain HTTP API. The data covers US equities and is derived from publicly available market information, processed through our own computational pipeline.
The service includes:
- Access to TickerAPI HTTP endpoints for retrieving financial data
- A web dashboard for managing your account, API keys, and usage
- Documentation and integration guides
- Official SDKs for Python, Node.js, and Go (provided as-is)
We may add, modify, or discontinue specific endpoints or features with reasonable notice. We will not remove core functionality without at least 30 days' advance notice via email.
Accounts & API keys
You must create an account to use TickerAPI. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Maintaining the security of your login credentials and API keys
- All activity that occurs under your account, whether authorized by you or not
- Revoking compromised API keys immediately via the dashboard
Each account is for a single individual or organization. API keys are non-transferable. You may generate multiple API keys within your account for different applications, but sharing keys across organizations or individuals is not permitted.
If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at support@tickerapi.ai.
Acceptable use
You may use TickerAPI to build applications, conduct research, power trading bots, generate analysis, and integrate financial data into your projects — subject to the plan you're subscribed to and the restrictions in these terms.
You agree not to:
- Exceed the rate limits or request quotas defined by your plan
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limiting, or any access controls
- Use the service to build a product that directly competes with TickerAPI as a financial data API
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, algorithms, or computational methods behind TickerAPI's data processing
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download data beyond normal API usage patterns
- Share your API key with third parties or use a single account across multiple organizations
- Use TickerAPI for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks connected to TickerAPI
We reserve the right to define and enforce what constitutes acceptable usage patterns. Abuse is determined at our sole discretion.
Data redistribution
Redistribution of TickerAPI data is not permitted under any Individual or Commercial plan. This is a core restriction of the service.
Specifically, you may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially distribute API response data to third parties
- Embed raw or minimally transformed API responses into a product, service, or interface delivered to end users
- Systematically cache TickerAPI data and serve it as if it were your own data source
- Include TickerAPI response data in datasets that are distributed, published, or sold
- Provide TickerAPI data to third parties through your own API, webhook, data feed, or similar mechanism
- Display raw API responses in a user-facing application where the primary value is the data itself (e.g., a stock screener that surfaces TickerAPI data directly)
What is permitted
You may use TickerAPI data to:
- Power internal decision-making within your application (e.g., a trading bot that acts on the data)
- Generate derived insights, summaries, or analysis that add substantial original value
- Inform LLM-generated responses where the API data is one input among many and is not passed through verbatim
- Build internal tools for your own organization's use
The distinction is between using the data (permitted) and redistributing the data (not permitted).
Custom data license
If your use case requires redistribution rights — for example, building a platform that surfaces financial data to end users — contact us to discuss a custom data license agreement. We're open to these arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
Data accuracy
TickerAPI data is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. It is not financial advice. Do not use it as the sole basis for investment decisions.
While we work to keep our data accurate and up to date, financial data is inherently complex and passes through multiple stages — from upstream sources, through our computational pipeline, to delivery. Errors can and do occur.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- TickerAPI data may contain inaccuracies, computational errors, stale values, or omissions
- Data may be delayed — TickerAPI computes data daily after market close, not in real-time
- Derived and categorical values (e.g., trend direction, valuation zones) represent our algorithmic interpretation and may differ from other providers
- TickerAPI is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial institution
- You are solely responsible for independently verifying any data that is critical to your use case, especially for financial decisions
- TickerAPI is not liable for any losses, damages, missed opportunities, or adverse outcomes resulting from data obtained through the service
Intellectual property
TickerAPI, its name, logo, website design, documentation, API structure, endpoint schemas, computational methods, and derived data formats are the intellectual property of TickerAPI's operators.
Your use of the service does not grant you any ownership rights to the API, its data, or any underlying technology. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the API and use the data within the bounds of your plan and these terms.
The raw market data underlying TickerAPI's computations is sourced from publicly available information and is not claimed as proprietary. However, the derived, computed, and structured output of our pipeline is proprietary.
Billing & payments
Plans and billing cycles
- Free tier — no credit card required. Subject to reduced rate limits and usage quotas.
- Paid plans — available on monthly or yearly billing cycles, processed through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
- Yearly billing — yearly plans are billed upfront for the full year at a discounted rate (equivalent to 10 months of the monthly price). Yearly subscriptions are non-refundable once purchased.
Upgrades and downgrades
- Upgrades — upgrading your plan (e.g., from Plus to Pro) takes effect immediately. You are charged a prorated amount for the difference between your current plan and the new plan for the remainder of your billing period.
- Downgrades — downgrading your plan takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to your current plan's features until then. No refunds or credits are issued for the difference in price.
- Switching from monthly to yearly — takes effect immediately. Any unused time on your current monthly billing period is credited toward the yearly price.
- Switching from yearly to monthly — takes effect at the end of your current yearly billing period. You retain access to your yearly plan until then.
Cancellation
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard.
- Monthly plans — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current monthly billing period. You retain access until then.
- Yearly plans — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current yearly billing period. You retain access until then. No partial refunds are issued for remaining months.
Refunds
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds for any reason, including unused time, partial billing periods, plan downgrades, or early cancellation. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to this no-refund policy.
Payment processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe. TickerAPI does not store your credit card information directly.
- You are responsible for keeping your payment method up to date. You can manage your payment methods, view invoices, and update your billing address through the billing portal accessible from your dashboard.
- Failed payments — if a payment fails, we will retry the charge according to Stripe's standard retry schedule (typically up to 3 attempts over approximately 7 days). If all attempts fail, your account will be downgraded to the free tier.
Price changes
We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice via email. Price changes apply to the next billing cycle after the notice period — they do not affect the current billing period. If you don't agree with a price change, cancel before it takes effect.
Availability & SLA
We aim to keep TickerAPI available and responsive, but we do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage. The service may be unavailable due to:
- Scheduled maintenance (we'll provide notice when possible)
- Unscheduled outages caused by infrastructure issues, upstream data source failures, or unforeseen circumstances
- Force majeure events (natural disasters, market shutdowns, etc.)
TickerAPI does not offer service-level agreements (SLAs) or uptime credits on Individual or Commercial plans. If uptime guarantees are critical to your use case, contact us to discuss enterprise arrangements.
Termination
By you
You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Upon deletion:
- All API keys are immediately and permanently revoked
- Your personal data is removed per our privacy policy
- Any active subscription is cancelled immediately and any remaining paid time is forfeited. All sales are final and no refunds are issued.
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these terms, including the data redistribution or acceptable use restrictions
- Your usage patterns constitute abuse or place excessive load on the service
- Your account is used for illegal activity
- You fail to pay for a paid plan after repeated billing attempts
For non-critical violations, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and give you an opportunity to remedy the issue before termination. For severe abuse (e.g., deliberate circumvention of rate limits, redistribution at scale), we may suspend access immediately and notify you after the fact.
Warranty disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any data provided through the API.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TICKERAPI AND ITS OPERATORS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Trading losses or missed investment opportunities
- Loss of data or data corruption
- Cost of procurement of substitute services
- Business interruption or downtime
— ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total aggregate liability for any and all claims related to the service is limited to the lesser of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $500 USD.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TickerAPI and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the service or data obtained through it
- Your violation of these terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Any claim by a third party related to your application or product that uses TickerAPI data
Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
You agree to waive any right to a jury trial in connection with any dispute related to these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes — particularly those that affect your rights, the data redistribution policy, or billing — we will notify you by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
Continued use of the service after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with the changes, your remedy is to close your account before the effective date.
The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
General provisions
- Entire agreement — these terms, together with the privacy policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TickerAPI regarding the service.
- Severability — if any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- No waiver — our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment — you may not assign or transfer these terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure — we are not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, wars, pandemics, market shutdowns, government actions, or infrastructure failures.
